Michael passed away peacefully at University Hospital Galway on Wednesday, 15th July 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his son, Derek; his daughter, Sandra; his parents, Mary and Joseph; and his brother, Peter.
Michael will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sons, Joe, Michael, Dara and Keith; his daughters, Geraldine and Audrey; his daughters-in-law, Valerie, Laura and Natalia; Michael Jnr’s partner, Fiona; his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Derek, Jamie, Katie, Stephanie, Rachael, Leah, Keith, Harry, Charlie, Cillian, Honorah and Maggie; his adored great-granddaughter, Ríona; his brothers and sisters, Robert, Martin, Francis, Gerard, Ann, Margaret and Josephine; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; his nieces and nephews; his extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements
Friday, 17th July 2026
Reposing in St. Pio's Room, adjoining the Sacred Heart Church, Seamus Quirke Road, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. Please note that there will be no removal to the church following the reposal.
Saturday, 18th July 2026
Michael will arrive at the Sacred Heart Church, Seamus Quirke Road, for Requiem Mass at 10.00 a.m.
Following Mass, he will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Kathleen, and daughter, Sandra, in Rahoon Cemetery.

Michael's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for him throughout his illness, especially the nurses and staff of the Acute Medical Unit and St. Teresa's Ward at University Hospital Galway, who showed such kindness, compassion and dedicated care.
The O'Neill family would also like to sincerely thank the staff of Claddagh Medical Centre and Go West Pharmacy for their unwavering care and support.
