It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Teresa Cubbard, who died in the wonderful care of the staff at University Hospital Galway, in the early hours of Monday, 6th July 2026, on the eve of her 88th birthday.

 

Predeceased by her beloved daughter Mary Christine, her parents Maureen and James Darcy, and her brothers Martin (Mattie) and Gabriel.

 

Teresa will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Peter, her sons Jimmy and Dominic, her daughters-in-law Helen and Ruth, her sisters Bridie (USA) and Annie (Galway), her brother Fr. Brendan Darcy SMA (USA), her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many dear friends.

 

May Teresa's kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

 

Funeral Arrangements

Thursday, 9th July 2026

Teresa will repose at Conneely's Funeral Home, Flood Street, Galway (H91 A786), from 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m., with Removal afterwards to St. Mary's Church, the Claddagh.

 

For those attending, a designated drop-off point will be available outside the funeral home for anyone with mobility difficulties. Parking at the funeral home is reserved for family members. Additional parking is available nearby at Hynes Yard Multi-Storey Car Park, The Leonardo Hotel Car Park, and the Q-Park, Galway City Shopping Centre, all of which are within a short walking distance.

 

Friday, 10th July 2026

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Teresa at 10.45 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, the Claddagh.

 

Following Mass, the funeral cortege will travel via St. Ignatius Terrace, the Claddagh, where Teresa spent many happy years. Family, friends and neighbours are warmly invited to accompany the cortege on foot as we pass the places she knew and loved, before continuing to Rahoon Cemetery, where Teresa will be laid to rest.
